Living Room's Mission

Living Room provides housing assistance for people living with HIV. Because you answered that neither you nor a member of your household are living with HIV, you unfortunately are not eligible for our services. If you answered this question incorrectly, please click "Start Over" to begin again.


Other Housing Resources

Although you are not eligible for Living Room services, there are still resources available to assist you. To explore other housing options:

  • Contact United Way 211 at (404) 614-4000 or visit their website.
  • Consult the Georgia Provider Map, which will allow you to search a database of over 1,100 homeless service providers throughout the state of Georgia.

About First's Month Rent

Moving into a new space can seem impossible if you are required to pay first month’s rent and a deposit at the same time. That’s why we will help you by covering your first month’s rent.


Necessary Documentation

In order to confirm your eligibility, you must have proof of income or proof of securing income within the next 30 days. You must also provide the following:

  1. Documentation of HIV+ status
  2. Welcome letter from landord
  3. W9 from landlord (sample)
  4. Photo ID

Funding is limited and scheduling an appointment does not guarantee assistance.

About Short-Term Rent, Mortgage, Utility Assistance (STRMU)

Life rarely goes as planned. Perhaps you’ve been thrown a real curve ball and aren’t sure how you’re going to pay rent or a bill. Living Room offers a one-time assistance with rent, mortgage, or utility payments if you experience an unexpected financial burden.


Necessary Documentation

In order to confirm your eligibility, you must have proof of income or proof of securing income within the next 30 days. You must also provide the following:

  1. Documentation of HIV+ status
  2. Lease/bill in your name
  3. Late notice/Past due bill
  4. If seeking rental assistance a W9 (sample), from your landlord is required
  5. Photo ID

Eligibility Requirement

The reason for your financial request must be from at least one of the following circumstances:

  • Sudden loss of main income source
  • Death of family member who contributed financially to household
  • Unexpected cost directly related to income source (e.g., car repairs and vehicle is necessary for employment)
  • Medically necessary costs

You must be able to provide written documentation of the reason for financial assistance.

Funding is limited and scheduling an appointment does not guarantee assistance.

Have a question about housing or looking for a new living space but don’t know what your options are? Come visit Living Room, and one of our housing specialists can go over your housing options with you or answer any questions you might have. Finding housing can be tough. That’s why we make sure you never have to do it alone.

Because the reason for your financial hardship did not match any of the four required criteria, you unfortunately are not eligible for rent, mortgage, or utility assistance. In order to be eligible for rent, mortgage, or utility assistance, financial hardships must be from at least one of the following circumstances:

  1. Sudden loss of main income source,
  2. Death of family member who contributed financially to the household,
  3. Unexpected cost directly related to income source (e.g., car repairs and vehicle is necessary for employment), or
  4. Medically necessary costs.
